What to expect at your first consultation
A walk through your first appointment, from the conversation to the examination and the plan we agree together.
Your first appointment is mostly a conversation.
I will ask about your symptoms, how they started, what makes them better or worse, and how they affect your work, sleep and hobbies. That history usually tells us most of what we need to know.
I will then examine your neck, shoulder and arm. This is gentle and I will explain what I am doing as I go.
If a scan is needed we will arrange it, but many problems can be diagnosed without one.
We finish by talking through the options: physiotherapy, activity changes, injections, or surgery where it is genuinely the best route. You leave with a plan you understand and agree with.
